Dear Ms. Lunelle,
While he was not a practicing Attorney, the Honorable President Jefferson Davis was considered to be the foremost legal mind of his time.
“How could a man with such legal savvy misinterpret the legality of secession” was the question put to me by my babies on Tuesday afternoon, December 12, 2023 as we await the biggest double cross since Lincoln declared his illegal war on the Southern Confederacy: the removal of the Confederate Reconciliation Cenotaph in Arlington National Cemetery.
I would tell them not to forget that President Davis demanded a trial as he lay chained to a bed with a guard circling it with a lighted kerosene lantern 24 hours a day (tantamount to torture). Yet, the Attorney General refused to prosecute him because he and others of his staff felt that they could not win.
And as long as that Cenotaph stands at Arlington National Cemetery, the Yankee Revisionist historians cannot deny the presence of a Black Confederate soldier as depicted on the Cenotaph by internationally renowned Jewish sculptor Moses Ezekiel, himself a Confederate Veteran whose family truly believed that at the time of his burial the Cenotaph served as his grave marker; a wish fulfilled for him and considered as a commitment by the Nation, his family, and the United States Government sanctioned be a place of permanency.
To now remove it using a Bill of Attainder to declare him a traitor is synonymous to the sacrilege and desecration by Hamas on the Jewish people on October 7, 2023.
I would tell my babies that contrary to what they believe, these illegally sanctioned acts of the United States Congress being carried out by the Department of Defense...."the truth is finally coming out...the South Was Right!”
God bless you!
Your brother,
