Dear Ms. Lunelle
As I stood Sunday, September 25, 2022 on the I-26 Bridge overpass with the Southern Cross in hand, don in my older butternut uniform that I wore on the Historic March Across Dixie very close to 20 years ago; I would find myself surrounded by folks questioning me about Ty Seidule and the demeaning remarks he made about the Honorable General Robert E. Lee.
And not to forget the renaming committee he sits on formed by Elizabeth Warren whose charge is to rename all military bases that carry the names of Confederate Veterans; to include tearing down Confederate Cenotaphs like the Confederate Cenotaph in Arlington National Cemetery.
In response to the question about Seidule, I would say "traitor."
After uttering the word “traitor” one gentleman in the gathering would beg to correct me for my choice of word.
“Mr. HK, a traitor is someone who betrays his Country. The Confederate States of America no longer exists. Therefore, I believe it is improper for you to call him a traitor because of his 1st Amendment speech.“
Ms. Lunelle, I just want to thank you for coining the phrase "DNA Traitor ". I would tell him that “a traitor is also defined as one who is false to a trust as well as one who betrays his country, a cause or an associate. “
As you are aware, I am scheduled to give the Keynote at the Military Museum in Covington, Tennessee on Veterans Day, and have been wrangling on what I would say; after talking to this man and those gathered, I knew that the topic of DNA traitors would be central in my Speeches in Covington, the Robert E Lee Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp in Memphis, and at the Shiloh Battlefield.
Judas of Iscariot and Benedict Arnold will have plenty of company when I finish speaking. God bless you!
Your brother,
HK
