Dear Ms. Lunelle,
A woman, Sherrilyn Ifill, claiming to be the President of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund accused the Honorable Peter Hegseth who is President-Elect Trump's nominee for Secretary of Defense, of being a “racist” and “White Supremacist”.
First, when is the tired old tactic of calling people bad names is going to stop? My mother told me that ‘sticks and stones my bones, but words could never hurt me’ and I hope that Mr. Hegseth’s mother did, too and that he and those supporting President Trump will ignore those trite old accusations as well.
Second, let me say, as a veteran, I am offended by this name-calling to a decorated veteran such as him. Shame on this so-called civil rights attorney. She should be sanctioned by whatever state gave her license to practice law for trashing this Honorable man with lies about his character using the Critical Race Theory Marxist playbook.
Finally, let me say that I had some experience with this group when I was President of the Asheville, Buncombe Chapter of the NAACP and realized it was a fundraiser not a champion of civil rights.
When I sought to bring a lawsuit exposing government and non-profit corruption at the expense of the elderly who were being kicked out of their homes, I was referred to them.
But before they would take the case they needed $7,000 to $10,000 to come to Asheville to investigate my claim to be spent on first-class airline tickets for their entourage of approximately 4-6 people, a Five Star Hotel for accommodations, and a Limousine for transportation.
“Wait a minute” would come my reply.
