Dear Ms. Lunelle,
I keep hearing my mom's message given to me after my brothers, my Southern and arguably many of my Northern family made the Historic March Across Dixie..."Son you have not done enough." Little did I know then that mama spoke the truth as I watch the memorials built by the women of the South in memory of so many of our Southern family who never made it back home, and places that bear their honorable names desecrated and destroyed. They deserve better.
Believe it or not, I even thought about the so-called “Lincoln Emancipation” monument in Boston that deserved better than the un-American destruction of art that brings a much-needed dialogue to the American psyche so championed by the Southern women.
Twenty of my babies would come to my home on Tuesday afternoon, November 21, 2023. And after they prayed, Malik would ask,"Mr. HK, can you point to the number one issue that you have faced in your travails in the Southern Heritage arena other than trying to raise monies for places like the legal battle now at Arlington National Cemetery?”
"White Folk Guilt" would be my answer without a moment's hesitation.
(Example) Oprah did a movie about Southern Share Cropping saying that the White man took two-thirds of the profits, while giving her papa (the Black man) only a third.
However, let's look at the books...(1)The White man owned the property and didn't charge Jed one dime for rent. (2) He owned the plow mules and horses, (3) He bought the feed to feed the animals, never charged Jed a dime, even when Jed's son broke his finger and he sent for and paid the Doctor.
Despite all this, Oprah declared him a White man who took advantage of her Papa Jed doing Share Cropping.
The Southern White man has been beat down so much and so bad and into thinking that they are purveyors of evil in the development of this Country.
And I have said many times that Southern slavery was a Red Herring. And if one would take the time to read the Slave Narratives and the words of those who would edit them namely that there is too much love that these slaves talk about that existed between them and their former Masters; we've got to leave most of this out.
On this day of November 22, 2023, I would have surgery to place defibrillator implantation in my chest by a young Southern Doctor (Dr. Hale) and a wonderful staff that treated me as if I were a King.
After dozing off, I would awaken and ask a nurse “when or would I have the surgery today?” She would reply, “it's already been done!”
I truly felt like going outside and posting the Southern Cross!
I want to thank everyone for their prayers.
God bless you!
Your brother,
HK
