Dear Ms. Lunelle,
As we approach the 250th Anniversary of America, those of us whose birthplace of origin is in the former Confederate States of America have already begun to brace ourselves for the lies and distortions of history meant to divide and disgrace our Southern people. And further to divide Americans from each other.
Especially will be the modus operandi of pitting Southern Blacks against Southern Whites as the weapon of choice as was done by the disgraced Senator Elizabeth Warren as she accused Southern Black Veterans coming back home from War as being offended when they returned home to Forts and Bases that carried the names of former Confederate soldiers, when, in fact, these Veterans were unequivocally proud in expressing the name of the places in which they served.
Another prominent lie that bears root in the Black communities of the whole of America was that Southern Whites were the main purveyors of the American Slave trade. The documentary titled "Traces of the Trade, A Story from the Deep North," by Katrina Browne (www.tracesofthetrade.org), reveals the colossal participation the DeWolf family of Rhode Island played in the African Diaspora.
This is truly a remarkable documentary that sheds light upon the lies promulgated against the South and turns the tables around, shifting responsibility onto the North, who were the real “perpetrators” (for want of a better word to describe those who brought Africans to America for money).
