Dear Ms. Lunelle,
On Saturday, November 11, 2023, I would don the uniform of the Southern Soldier and alongside the James Kneeling Camp 52 Sons of Confederate Veterans, their families, and many friends join in the Veterans Day Parade in Bristol, Virginia.
All along the Parade route, as we passed by, the crowds of people gathered would cheer, clap, and shout out the Rebel Yell. Not to forget their exclamations of “God bless you!”
The Host of the Veterans Day program that took place after the parade at Veterans Memorial Park would thank the sponsors, including the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp.
When the end of the Program came, the Host would ask all the Veterans to come forward for a photograph together. As I stood in the formation, and other Veterans continued to gather, a man in the audience asked me “what Army do you represent as you are wearing the Confederate soldiers uniform and brandishing the Confederate flag?”
I first asked of him, “do you see any of these Veterans complaining about my presence with this flag?”
Before he would answer, I would tell him:
“it was present with them in every War fought by the United States forces after the War for Southern Independence.
